The new owners of this beautiful top floor apartment in Potts Point wanted to modernise their home, while keeping its original Art Deco feel. Another major element was the removal of a load-bearing wall to create a more open plan transition between the kitchen and dining areas.
Carpets throughout were removed to reveal the original floorboards, which were sanded back and stained/sealed in a rich japan walnut tone, in keeping with the building’s era. And the entire apartment was painted to brighten and uplift the rooms. Both bathrooms were completely gutted and modernised, with very personalised finishes and fittings chosen by the clients – for two distinctly different bathing spaces. Bringing this apartment right into the 21st century, a high-tech touch in home entertainment was the installation of a Sonos home intelligence system and drop-down projector in the main living area.
